Alternative dispute resolution

Litigation is rarely the best or only way to settle a dispute. We have a busy department dedicated to resolving general civil and commercial disputes using practical alternative resolution methods such as arbitration or mediation. We consider each case on its individual merit taking into account the nature of the dispute and relationship before advising how we think the dispute can best be settled.

Mediation puts you and your legal adviser, together with the other party, in control of the decision-making, time scale and, ultimately, the cost. Furthermore, a negotiated settlement means that both sides have to agree to the outcome, therefore neither side is adjudged to have lost or won. There is the additional benefit that the business relationship is more likely to survive an ADR procedure to the future benefit of both parties.
